Our belief

Everyone Deserves to Thrive

We believe every child, young person and adult deserves to feel heard, understood and valued. Because when people are recognised for who they are and supported in the ways they need, they have the opportunity to belong, grow and succeed.

Our why

Understanding Changes Lives

Built on years of educational expertise and lived experience of SEND, neurodivergence and inclusion, our work began with children and young people. We soon recognised that sharing our knowledge and experience could also empower families, educators and professionals to better understand themselves and those around them.

Meet the Directors

Sandra Tibbles
Sandra Tibbles

Founder and Managing Director

As an educator, I began by supporting children and young people. Over time, many of the parents, carers and professionals I worked alongside began exploring their own experiences too. This journey strengthened my core belief that every person’s story matters and deserves to be understood.

Marketing & Finance Director

After many years in business, I’ve learned that the best results come from understanding people, not just numbers — although I do love a good spreadsheet! Living with MS and supporting neurodivergent family members has given me a different perspective on the challenges people face. It’s why I’m passionate about making sure Childhood Matters is a business that genuinely makes a difference.

Your approach is unique and is not the usual approach I have had with advocates.

SEN Manager

I was just reflecting that it is a pleasure to work with you as an Advocate who seeks collaboration and is supportive to the process. Unfortunately, your approach is unique and is not the usual approach I have had with advocates.

Passionate about learning in a collaborative way

Our Childhood Matters mentor spent time really getting to know our student & working out the best way to engage with him. She works in a very person-centred and strengths-based way following our student’s lead and building rapport via his special interests. It is clear that the staff at Childhood Matters are really experienced and knowledgeable.

Our experience has been very positive.

I just wanted to add how pleased we are with the support our mentor from Childhood Matters is giving.

Executive Headteacher

I just wanted to add how pleased we are with the support our mentor from Childhood Matters is giving.  She is an amazing practitioner!  She has slotted into our school so well and is wonderful to have as part of our team. Her work with our young person is fantastic too.  She is a great ambassador for the work your organisation does. Thank you

Childhood Matters has brought so much positivity and hope

Parent of child attending Childhood Matters Alternative Provision

‘Childhood Matters has brought so much positivity and hope to our family after previous unsuccessful provisions and tutors following a very difficult time of autistic burnout for our son. They are the first provider to genuinely build a connection of trust with our son at his pace, showing us that the right adult can help him feel safe enough to engage, grow and gradually reach amazing progress. Our son has made huge steps forward including leaving home with his tutor and enjoying spending time with another adult who isn’t family. We feel incredibly privileged to have found someone that our son is excited to spend time with every single week and who has the high level skills and experience to recognise any difficulties and co-regulate effectively and quickly when required. We are so grateful you have brought so much fun back into our son’s week. Thank you Childhood Matters!‘

Sandra is truly inspirational and aspirational

Strengths & Performance Coach

‘Sandra has an immense capacity to digest, assimilate and put action in place. Her capacity to learn, digest and deploy initiatives is second to none. She is someone who will make a difference from day one – without ego or self-gain, as her motivation. Sandra is truly inspirational and aspirational. A great asset to any school!’

I was left inspired and utterly thought provoked

Global Inclusion Consultant

‘Of all the discussions around child-focussed education, never have I seen such a beautiful, purposeful and extreme example of this. I was left inspired and utterly thought provoked. I came away feeling like I had witnessed something very special. Indeed, I think you are a unique and most excellent leader.’

The best way to describe working with Childhood Matters is ‘easy’

SENDCo

The best way to describe working with Childhood Matters is ‘easy’. They were easy to contact, and they set up the sessions incredibly quickly. It was easy to find all the necessary paperwork on their website. They made matching a mentor with the pupil look easy, as they hit it off straight away. Reading the weekly updates and end-of-term progress report was easy, as was reading the happy emails that I regularly received from the parents.
